About the Craft
Every Zayru garment carries a real aksara — a writing system from Indonesia's many islands. These are not decorative shapes; they are living characters that once held entire libraries of poetry, law, and prayer.
Hanacaraka is the 20-letter syllabary of the Javanese language, named after the first four characters of its traditional order. Once the everyday script of court poetry and Islamic mysticism, today fewer than 5% of Javanese speakers can read it. Featured in our Bazaka edition. — Bazaka
A revived West-Javan abugida with 32 letters and a soft, rounded geometry that lends itself beautifully to the cap (stamp) technique. We use Kaganga primarily on outer-layer pieces where each letter can breathe.
